Run to each other.

Apex turns your runs and rides into a hand-drawn storybook for two. Run toward your partner across Verona, or a friend along the Cinque Terre, and meet in the middle.

Apex is a gift to women who run, and everyone who runs with them. Every story, plan and feature is for everyone: nothing locked, no premium tier, no trial that runs out.

How it works

Three taps to chapter one.

It takes about a minute. No forms, just a few taps. Then every run moves your story forward.

  1. Who's running with you?

Your partner, or a friend or family member. Each answer opens its own story. Switch any time in Story settings.

  2. Pick your look

Choose a cartoon runner. This little one jogs along your map every time you head out.

  3. Run, ride, turn the page

Every minute moves you along. Hit your weekly goal and a new storybook scene unlocks.

Two stories

Run to each other. A chapter a week.

Your story has its own tab, with a card on Home, and moves with every run or ride: yours, and theirs. One chapter for every week you reach your goal.

Hand-drawn scene: Romeo and Juliet meet on a brick bridge over the river in Verona at sunset, a little heart between them.
Chapter 2 · Ponte Pietra, Verona

Couples

Romeo & Juliet. Run to each other.

For you and your partner. You start on opposite sides of Verona, on the real map. Every minute either of you runs pulls you closer. Reach your shared weekly goal and you meet in the middle.

  • A real map of Verona, street by street
  • You meet when your shared weekly goal is done
  • They see your first name and weekly minutes, nothing more
Hand-drawn split scene: Bea walks the harbour in Manarola on one side, Juno walks the harbour in Vernazza on the other, and two instant photos cross the line between them.
Chapter 2 · Manarola and Vernazza
Hand-drawn scene: Bea and Juno high five on a terrace above the sea, with confetti and a setting sun behind them.

Duo

Bea & Juno. Meet in the middle.

For a friend, a sister, your mum: anyone you'd run with. Bea starts in Riomaggiore and Juno in Monterosso, at opposite ends of the Cinque Terre. Every week you both run, each of you moves along your own stretch of real coast path, trading voice notes, photo contests and snack reports, until you high five on the terrace in Corniglia.

  • A real map of the Cinque Terre, village by village
  • One shared weekly goal, just like Couples
  • Six chapters, and you meet in the last one

Everything else

A proper run app, drawn by hand.

GPS tracking, training plans, routes, sensors and your crew, wrapped in crayon instead of charts. Four tabs, Home, Story, Club and Training, and one round Record button in the middle.

A little you runs your map

Pick a cartoon avatar and watch them jog your real route, every run. Swap looks whenever you like.

Training plans

Plans built on proven training methods, paced to you, with rest days that count.

  • Couch to 5K
  • 10K
  • Half
  • Marathon
  • Ultra
  • Cycling

Run & ride with GPS

Distance, pace and elevation outdoors, with a split for every kilometre you run.

Plan a route, then follow it

Tap the map and Apex snaps your route to paths, closes the loop or doubles back. Follow it with a gentle off-route alert, and see everywhere you've been on a heatmap only you can see.

  • Snap to paths
  • GPX export
  • Personal heatmap

Share my run, if you want

Let your partner, a club friend or anyone with a private link follow a run live. It's off until you start it, you can stop any time, and it switches itself off.

  • Off by default
  • Ends by itself
  • No account to view

Your watch and your sensors

Bring in the workouts your watch saves to Apple Health, pair Bluetooth heart-rate straps, foot pods, bike sensors, power meters and smart trainers, and send workouts to your Apple Watch.

  • Apple Health
  • Bluetooth sensors
  • Apple Watch

Segments, private first

Turn a favourite stretch of your own run or ride into a segment and race your past self, your club or your partner. Public boards only if you opt in.

  • Personal bests
  • Club boards
  • Public is opt-in

Private clubs for your crew

Start a club or join one with an invite code, and be in as many as you like. Members get a private feed of run cards, photos and cheers, a weekly club leaderboard and club challenges. Non-members see nothing.

  • Invite-only
  • Challenges
  • Weekly leaderboard

One button to start

Tap Record to set up a run or ride: sport, place, route, workout, sensors and weather on one screen. Hold it to start straight away with your last setup.

  • Record
  • Hold to quick start

Post it to your club

Finished? Post to a club right from your run summary, or from Home. Your club sees the distance, time and pace, never the route.

  • From the summary
  • No route shown

Your week at a glance

Home shows your activity grid, from one month to all time, your story's progress, today's workout and your personal heatmap. Tap your avatar for the You hub: records, achievements, routes and settings.

Meet Sunny

A sunny guide, and a coach that lives on your phone

Sunny shows you around when you start. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, an AI coach answers questions about your training. It runs on-device, so your runs never leave your phone.

The science

Crayons on top. Maths underneath.

Why the numbers are worth trusting: paces from published running research, fitness and fatigue at a glance, records found inside your runs, and an AI coach that never leaves your iPhone.

How Apex works

How Apex compares

Next to Strava, Runna and co.

A fair, sourced side-by-side as of October 2026: live sharing that is off until you start it, private-first leaderboards, no global heatmap on purpose, and where other apps are stronger.

Safety & privacy

Safe by design, not by settings.

Apex is made for women who run. So the protective choice is the default one, not a toggle buried three screens deep.

  • Sign in with Apple
  • Adults only (18+)
  • On-device AI
  • Privacy zones
  • Live sharing is off until you start it

Apex never shares your location unless you start a share. You pick who sees it, you can stop any time, it switches itself off, and live points are deleted 24 hours after it ends.

  • Your front door stays yours

Apex trims the first and last 200 m of every route on your iPhone, and cuts back to the edge of any privacy zone you set, like home or work.

  • Your routes stay private

Only you see the runs and rides you record, and your heatmap is drawn on your phone for your eyes only. A planned route you share with a club or your partner goes with its ends trimmed, unless you choose otherwise.

  • Leaderboards are private first

Segments are private by default. Share one with a private club or your partner to race them. Public boards are opt-in, and show only a first name and avatar.

  • Partners and friends share minutes, not maps

In Couples and Duo, the other person sees your first name and your weekly minutes in 5-minute steps. Your location only if you start a live share and pick them.

  • Clubs are private and invite-only

There's no public feed. Only members you've let in see a club. Non-members see nothing, not even that it exists.

  • Report and block, one tap

Use the ••• menu on any post, comment or person. We review reports within 24 hours, and club admins can remove members.

  • No ads. No ad trackers.

No analytics or advertising tools in the app, no advertising ID, and no cookies on this site. The site counts visits without cookies.

Support

Good questions.

Is Apex really free?

Yes. No ads, no subscription, no in-app purchases and no premium tier. Every story, plan and feature is for everyone.

Can people track me?

Not unless you choose. The runs and rides you record are private, and Apex never shares your location unless you start a live share. Then you pick who can follow: your partner or club friends in the app, or anyone you send a private link to. You can stop any time, and it switches itself off. Your partner otherwise sees only your weekly minutes and first name, club boards run on a 2-hour delay, and segments can never start or end inside your privacy zones.

Who can see my club?

Only its members. Clubs are private and invite-only: you join with an invite link from someone inside. Non-members can't see the club, its feed or even that it exists, and there's no public feed.

Do I need a partner to use Apex?

Not a romantic one. Duo is for a friend, a sister, your mum: anyone you'd run with. And you can start by yourself: recording runs and rides, training plans, routes and clubs all work for one. The stories are made for two, so chapters start unlocking once the person you invite has joined. You can invite them later, from Story settings.

What does my partner or friend see?

In Couples and Duo they see two things: your first name and your workout minutes for the week, rounded down to 5 minutes, counting only workouts since you paired. Not your routes, pace or location, unless you start a live share and pick them. Either of you can leave any time in Story settings.

Does it work with my watch?

Yes. Workouts your Apple Watch, Garmin or other watch saves to Apple Health can be brought into Apex. Apex also pairs Bluetooth heart-rate straps, foot pods, bike sensors, power meters and smart trainers, and sends structured workouts to your Apple Watch. There's no direct Garmin cloud connection, because Garmin's partner programme is closed to new apps.

Is Apex only for women?

It's made for women who run, and the people who run with them. Everyone 18 and over is welcome.

Is there an Android version?

iPhone only for now.

Who makes Apex?

Apex is a free passion project by Mohan Prakash Jeyasankar, a runner and tech builder in the UK, making the app he'd want for the running community. Not a company, no investors, no ads.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: tap your avatar (top right) → Settings → Delete Account. Everything stored with your account goes with it. Step by step.
